When a smaller wastewater pumping system is needed due to space restrictions!

The Jung Pumpen Hebefix Plus, available from Pump Technology Ltd, based in Berkshire, is suitable for commercial buildings and can be fitted neatly in all pre-walled systems or cavities due to its small tank depth of 183mm. The tank is “pressure tight” to assure the pumping system never floods even in the unlikely event of a breakdown. Additionally, it will easily fit perfectly under washbasins and counters.

The tank is manufactured from high quality ABS plastic (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) which is rigid in design and will provide long life. ABS plastics are also fully recyclable.

The Hebefix Plus utilises the Jung Pumpen U3

submersible pump and can pump up to 6m head making it suitable for wastewater applications. The pump has a small flushing devise that prevents deposits build up within the tank.

A maximum of three appliances such as sinks or washing machines can be connected and because the bottom inlet is just 75mm centre to floor, the unit can also be used for a shower tray waste application.

The Hebefix Plus also comes with its own runtime monitor and high-level acoustic alarm with a potential volt free contact for connection of a remote alarm or BMS.

With its integrated ventilation and non-return

Pump Technology Ltd, are authorised by Jung Pumpen GmbH and are now the largest supplier of Jung Pumpen equipment in the UK. These include systems with duty standby pumping configurations, pumps rated for continuous operation at high fluid temperatures of up to 90°C and versions for light chemical applications, typically laboratories, hairdressers, janitor sinks or similar.

In their warehouse in Berkshire they hold large stocks of Jung Pumpen equipment, which means that orders placed before 3pm qualify for next day

UK mainland delivery. It is also possible to collect goods from their warehouse.

With over 30 years’ experience customers can rely on the team at PumpTechnology Ltd to assist with the correct wastewater pumping system for every application.

Pump Technology Ltd also has a dedicated Jung Pumpen department which means that their knowledge of applications and products will always ensure the best technical and commercial solution.

The company also supports contractors and end users with commissioning and maintenance services nationwide.

CLASSIC SOPHISTICATION

THE ELMS CRESCENT PROJECT WITH HAVWOODS

A beautiful property located in the heart of Abbeville Village in London, this classic home is the latest project with Havwoods. Working in partnership with Owa Architects, this spacious home underwent a luxurious ground floor kitchen and loft extension, as well as full interior renovation. The new interior décor merges characterful details with traditional townhouse features –resulting in a sought-after home, ideal for a younger buyer in the heart of the city.

08 developer-update.co.uk

Havwoods’ beautiful Chevron Fendi Prime was supplied for the project, providing a seamless look and feel. The flooring has been used across the main living area where a statement striped sofa sits beautifully in front of a large bay window, complemented with abstract furnishings and accessories to complete the look. The boards flow beautifully into the hallway, opening up the area and adding additional character to the home.

Comprising light honey hues, the planks work harmoniously against the traditional characteristics of the building, such as the high-ceilings and floorto-ceiling windows which add to the property’s overall appeal. The pattern and natural markings of the boards give the home personality, particularly

when paired with a neutral colour palette. The chevron design directs the eye from one side of the room to the other, making the room appear larger.

With help from Havwoods, this elegant home has been completely transformed into a space that delivers on style as well as longevity. The distinctive designs are not only limited to flooring, but can be installed anywhere - from walls and ceilings to doors and furniture surfaces. The Havwoods team works closely with every customer to refine the primary characteristics of the product and to meet their specific needs, no matter the size of the project.

BALANCING BETWEEN OPTIMISM AND CAUTION

THE OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY IS FACING IN 2023

In recent weeks, many companies have been looking to the new year of 2023 with mixed feelings. The coronavirus pandemic, which dominated the past two starts to the year and caused major restrictions, has faded in significance. Even China, which had, until recently, operated the strictest “no covid” strategy, has began easing restrictions. But the industry is still holding its breath.

The start of the war in Ukraine last February not only impacted business and production within the EU, but also across the entire world. Economists expect a difficult period ahead for the global economy.

Pricing pressure is on the rise and many companies are passing on the costs for raw materials and energy to end users. But prices for energy have risen less sharply than anticipated and despite gloomier forecasts, the EU Single Market has proven more stable than many experts initially assumed.

Challenges for 2023

At the start of a new year, the Global Risk Report containing forecasts for the year is released. The biggest challenges in 2023: Rising costs in all areas of life and business, climate change and shortage of resources. But crises can either bring things to a standstill or drive innovation – an incentive for companies to look into and optimise their own production facilities.

According to a survey by Germany’s Mechanical and Plant Engineering Association (VDMA), 48% of decision-makers

surveyed from the industry are behaving with optimism, with just 14% taking a pessimistic view of this year. But the challenges of 2023 vary for the different branches of the industry.

The end of the construction boom

The construction industry is gearing up for a difficult 2023. Costs are set to rise further, while order volumes will decline. The previous year’s problems are carrying their consequences into 2023 and ultimately putting a stop to the construction boom, which had been continuing non-stop right up until the pandemic broke out.

Major new build projects in planning cannot be implemented in full. And in light of current interest rates, private individuals are shying away from taking out loans and investing in property themselves. The increase in sales seen in the previous year is all linked to growing prices for raw materials, with inflationadjusted growth in construction volumes not expected again until 2024.

To help the industry, governments now need to take a clear route to be able to execute projects and effectively circumnavigate obstacles. Because despite stagnated housing construction, an upswing in the construction of infrastructure is still possible. Even more sustainable renovation projects are conceivable and could be implemented, despite economic problems. The EU has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2050, something which can only be done if every necessary step is taken. What construction companies need to do now is respond quickly and prepare for a year packed with challenges, to ensure that they can stand up to the competition.

Equipped for the future

Inflation, supply chains, sustainability – there are many aspects that determine the success or failure of the industry. The current economic situation and geopolitical circumstances only allow for clear predictions of the effects of 2023 on production to a limited extent. However, companies should look at these challenges as opportunities and use them to expand and modernise their in-house processes. Budgets must be used wisely and new investments calculated with care.

To stay ahead of the competition in 2023 despite rising prices and supply chain problems, secondhand machines are a worthwhile investment. They are available in high quality for a lower price and are ready to be used in just a short time. Working together with experts like industrial auction house Surplex, companies can find the best machine to suit them and upgrade their production facilities with second-hand machines with the help of a competent, all-round service. This will enable companies to release the brakes ever so slightly.

About Surplex

Surplex is one of Europe’s leading industrial auction houses and trades worldwide in used machines and factory equipment. The 16-language auction platform Surplex.com is visited around 45 million times every year. It sells more than 55,000 industrial products per year in over 800 online auctions. The company is based in Düsseldorf and has offices in 15 European countries. Over 220 employees from 20 different nations generate an annual turnover of more than 100 million euros.

The potential for a multidimensional garden in the woods was clear from the start on a three-plus-acre clearing in Great Falls, Virginia. The owners of a Colorado-inspired, stoneand-wood residence sought to enhance their property with a pool, vegetable garden and play space for children. The plan developed by landscape architect Jeff Plusen layered vegetation in organic curves and set stones as nature might have dropped them. He even integrated a faux stream by recycling pool water over a cascade of Delaware River pebbles.

“It’s a tremendous property carved out of the woods, so the connection to the environment was very important,” Plusen notes.

A wild spirit flourishes in the backyard. Stacked fieldstones support a pool sidewall. Irises and grasses sprout among irregular flagstones, a fire circle and pathways to an expansive lawn. For contrast, orderly travertine pavers surround the pool and gazebo.

Garden installation was undertaken by Planted Earth

WOODED WONDER

Landscaping. Starting in 2015, spaces for play equipment and a kitchen garden were established, and serviceberry trees, oakleaf hydrangeas and summer meadow bloomers planted. Close to 100 additional trees replenished the forest edge. “We went with nothing smaller than two-inch calipers,” says thenproject manager Justin Spittal.

An unusual cattle-crossing grate at the front entrance keeps deer out, while welcoming guests with an unobstructed and lush view. “This project was awesome,” says Spittal. “Other than the native forest, there wasn’t a single plant on site when we got started.”

AUTOMOWER® NERA REVOLUTIONISES LAWN CARE

HUSQVARNA, THE PIONEER IN ROBOTIC MOWING AND SMARTMOWING TECHNOLOGY HAS REVEALED THE AUTOMOWER® NERA – ITS FIRST AUTOMOWER® ROBOTIC MOWER THAT SUPPORTS BOUNDARY WIRE-FREE MOWING IN PRIVATE GARDENS.

Set to launch early next year, Automower® NERA supports the EPOS satellite navigation system and makes robotic lawn care even more effortless, as it lets the user create virtual cutting zones with the help of a mobile phone. This gives the user the flexibility of deciding where to cut, when and at what height. Offering an even smoother Automower® experience, the Automower ® NERA range can handle more complex terrains and steep slopes, and steers away from unwanted objects on the lawn.

The Automower® NERA range comes in three models, all of which support boundary wirefree technology. Husqvarna Automower® 430X NERA and 450X NERA can cut lawns of up

to 3200 square metres and 5000 square metres respectively, while Automower ® 320 NERA is optimal for lawns up to 2200 square meters. Both mowers in the 400 series come equipped with the object avoidance feature, based on radar technology, that helps the mower detect and avoid common objects like toys and garden tools. This reduces the stress of always keeping the lawn tidy and reduces the number of unwanted stops. All models come with improved terrain handling, which reduces the wear and tear of the lawn and can also be washed easily with a hose.

More than 25 years ago, Husqvarna launched the world’s first robotic mower and changed the lawn mowing category forever. With NERA, a new chapter of lawn mowing is about to begin for homeowners, where physical boundary wires can be replaced by Husqvarna´s satellite navigation system, EPOS. Husqvarna

EPOS is a well-proven technology, as it was launched for the professional segment two years ago. Husqvarna Automower® NERA can operate with a precision of 2-3 cm and take on rough terrain and slopes with up to 50% inclination. For the NERA range to operate without physical boundary wires, an EPOS plug-in kit will be required, which will be sold as a separate accessory.

“We are thrilled to launch the boundary wire-free solution for private garden owners, as we know that many people have been waiting for this ever since we first introduced that technology in the professional market. NERA really represents the next generation of smart lawn care, with less effort and more precise mowing,” says Ryan Patterson, Residential Segment Manager at Husqvarna UK.

Husqvarna Automower® NERA will be available to customers from early 2023.
